Maggie Minnion

I have a market stall called The Filling Station where you can bring your empty bottles and get them refilled with a range of around 25 different eco-friendly household cleaning products and some food stuffs. My aim is to provide an opportunity for customers to re-use single-use plastic containers ad infinitum, thus reducing plastic waste. I also look out for the most common plastic objects found in land fill and the oceans, and try to replace them with bio-degradable materials. Bamboo toothbrushes, wooden combs, cardboard pens with refills, wooden washing-up brushes, and cotton hankies, are some of the products to be found on my Zero Waste table. I love Nature with a passion, and I try to put a seasonal treat for Nature on my table at all times, such as seed bombs, bee hotels, bat houses, and comfrey and nettle liquid plant feed. All my packaging is either recycled or bio-degradable. I also sell a few lovely works of ceramic art made of waste clay and recycled glass! I’m always on the look-out for new ideas and compostable products, so if you know of any, make sure to come by the market stall and tell me about them!

Istvan Markuly

Istvan Markuly

Istvan was born and grew up in the beech forest in Hungary and have always been interested in forests and water – he always felt connected with the aquaculture where he fished.

He studied painting and art in Hungary, and ran a building company until he started travelling in 2001 and was introduced to Permaculture in 2003.

He continued travelling and got involved in Permaculture farming projects, living and travelling in community, harvesting fruit, and organic farming. He experienced working in the European climates from northern cold humid to southern Mediterranean.

Since 2006 he has been based in Ireland where he developed a property service business specialising in sustainable house retrofitting and land management to provide better living spaces for clients and training for employees.

He lived off-grid, providing my own energy, water & food security – this gave him more connection to the land and to his local community and came to realise the importance of educating people, in particular from a community perspective.

This led him to see the needs of the local community and immersed himself in local voluntary community development projects; waste management, water harvesting, food waste and food rescue, community forestry, fairshare favour exchange, community gardens, and school gardens.

He started to give¬¬¬¬¬¬ talks & provided workshops through local groups such as G.I.Y, local educational systems, and the community projects.

Currently he is working on establishing and growing the permaculture network in West Cork, Ireland and initiating permaculture waves across the country!

He provides Permaculture design consultancy supporting growers, restaurants, private properties, hotels, farms, community development to become more productive and independent.

His passion is to integrate Permaculture design into the education systems through identifying needs and supporting connections.

His direction and focus at the moment is teaching permaculture and deeper understanding of soil biology as a part of the overall design.

He has taken PDC’s and Permaculture workshops internationally, and continues to grow his knowledge.
